Today, Feb 22, 2022 (which can also be written as 22-2-22) is a palindrome day and you should perhaps do something important today, or at least that is what many cultures across the world believe.

In some cultures, palindrome days are considered lucky. Perhaps, it is the beauty of symmetry that such dates have to offer, or it somehow signifies some kismet connection, but many couples choose palindromes as dates to tie the knot. Such dates are also closely associated with spirituality. Palindrome dates are also considered mathematical rarity for their impeccable symmetry.

Interestingly, today’s date is not only a palindrome but also an ambigram. Ambigram means, if you arrange the digits of today’s date, in vertical order, it would read the same upside down as well.

Apart from being a palindrome and an ambigram, February 22 is also a TWOday as the number 2 is repeated several times today. For starters, the year is 2022, and this is the second month of the year, and the date is 22 as well. Therefore, according to the American system, the date would be written as 2/22/22 today.

The last double (both a palindrome and ambigram) was on February 12, 2021, and believe it or not, the next time we will see such a date will not happen for years. Apparently, it will be Feb 8, 2080 that will be both a palindrome and an ambigram.

The last palindromic date that we saw, however, was February 2, 2022 (earlier this month). In 2020, February 2 was also a palindromic date. But, let us point out that such dates are rare every millennium. This millennium we have only 60 palindromic dates, and we have already wasted some of them. Therefore, if you are someone who believes in luck, and fate, block your calendar today, and don’t let today go by insignificantly.

However, if you are fence sitting, let us point out that the next time both day/month/year and month/day/year formats aligns will be on March 3, 3030 (03/03/3030), and we may not be so ‘lucky’ to get the opportunity to seize that day. So, Carpe Diem.
